HID lights?
How do I know which size HID kit to order? what is the size for an 01 celica? Ive seen people wanting H7, H4 and what not. Also, can you convert the fog lights on the Celica to HID? if so, what size would those be?

I just converted to H4 HID lights for my 91 celica. I am sure they have a kit for your year of car. The main thing you want to look for is that the kit has the right adapter for the wires currently connected to your headlights, otherwise you will need to splice the wires. Any HIT kit should work but you might have to cut and splice wires if the adapters don't match up. Also mounting the HID relays can be tricky and I only say that because it was hard to find a good spot to mount the relays inside the engine compartment, but luckily my fenders were off at the time of the install and I was able to mount them right onto the same bolts as the headlight relays which were under my fenders. H4, H7, whatever, they are all bright but the blueness of the light is different. Also you will need headlights that the new light bulbs will plug into.
I also changed out my fog lights and used the existing stock switch to work them, which can be tricky because they needed to be rewired off of the headlight circuit to work properly due to the higher power of the new fog lights (55 watts). Now my fog lights will come on when I turn the key to on. I didn't see any HID fog lights when I was looking, but they surely have bright ones. I bought Pilot projector fog lights from Auto Zone. I think PIAA fog lights are the best and most expensive. I had to remove and install a new relay and move a wire from the relay to the ignition circuit instead of the headlight circuit. Here is a link I used: http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/fogs.htm Good luck and I hope this helps! |

Re: HID lights?
I am in Edgewood. Why, do you need HID lights?
BTW...I just installed a stereo (Pioneer DEH-P6700MP) in my car and it was the easiest thing because I bought it from crutchfield.com. They included detailed instructions specific to my car on how to remove the dash and great wiring diagrams. Now I just need some paint and a subwoofer. Maybe a cold air intake and an exhaust too, but first things first. My 91 creampuff is like new except for the paint with 50k miles. I bought it off my Mom and she bought it new. It was sitting for 3 years and I just brought it back to life to use for work. I had all the belts changed and a new clutch along with a ball joint. I put a new starter motor in and fixed the body. Also wired a constant power cigarette lighter for my laptop and cell phone. Ever max out the speedometer on the celi? I think it's limited to 120mph. Tough to do around here anywhere. The fastest I ever had it was 111, then I had to slow down out of ticket fear.
