ABS and Brake lights on. 99 Montana
My ABS and brake lights are on. The brakes seem to work fine. I took it to the dealer and they said it's the motor that runs the ABS. $600 to fix or just drive it. I asked if it was a safety hazard and they said you still have normal brakes but no ABS. Is this a safety issue? Are they right?
Also, I noticed when putting air in the tire that the brake rotor and wheel seem to be very hot after my wife drive 2 miles. Not burning hot but hot to the touch. Is this normal? It's on both sides of the front end. |

Since the brakes are used to stop the vehicle, I WOULD say it IS a safety issue - you never know when you are going to REALLY need them. $600? You might try somewhere else, besides the dealership. Perhaps a shop that specializes in brakes? I know some shops that do a free (or minimum charge) brake inspection. Take care,
