Anyone know about any transmission problems with the 04 Rubicons?

I just bought a 2003 TJ Sport, 6 cylinders with 40,000 miles. There is a noise when shifting from 1st to 2nd. It sounds like broken clutch-damper springs. Also, when in neutral and with the clutch out the transmission input bearing is noisy. I had a dealer check it out and they said they all make such a noise. I find this hard to believe. I am going to have it checked by another dealer.

Re: 04 Rubicon transmission noise

Our '02 6cyl made a lot of bearing noise also in neutral.

As to the shifts, try shifting a bit more slowly. If you got the vehicle used, someone may have abused 2nd some.
