Re: Neons in the Grill?

wouldn't be hard to do, just get a small enough light umm, whatever those long ones are called, having a brain fart at the moment. Just fasten it behind the grills and run the wires up.

You will get so much crap from cops for mounting neons into the grill. Any directly forward facing light will get you a ticket for unecessary disctraction(although I have never seen a fully loaded Z06 get a ticket for this and its distracting from every angle)

Remove the fanwell cover and tap headlight wires for power its pretty straight forward. dont use indoor lights, they wont last a month. use LED or neons designed for exterior use.

Re: Neons in the Grill?

hmm ur write it shouldnt be hard to do. I wouldnt tap into the headlights for a few reasons, you wouldnt be able to turn them off if I cop was comming around you etc, you wouldnt be able to turn them on say in a parking lot without having your headlights on

I want to get a underbody neon kit in the near future and want to be able to sit in a parking lot for example with everything on, so when I do get those, I'm going to have to figure out how to wire them all up to one switch

well thats the ghetto rid version of how to do it. The proper way is to use a 10a automotive relay and run from the 1.foglights if you are lazy 2.run a wire inside through the firewall to a switch inside - my neon switch is right next to my heated seat control...

BTW, does anyone have a good suggestion of a way to mount my LCD without making it non removable?

Re: Neons in the Grill?

ya I would probably run it through the firewall to a switch. How do you exactly use the relay?

http://www.bcae1.com/relays.htm

Good site for the basics. Basicly a relay allows you to take a low current output and use it to 'switch on' a device with a higher current draw. Since you are right next to the battery you could run a wire from the battery to the neons, I used the headlights output because my lights are LED and draw less than 4 amps total and I like them to flash with my keyless entry.

no, the switch is like the master control, but if you leave the switch on, the neons will shut off with the foglights. If you are planning on running in a parking lot, dont use the foglight tap. I am often forgetfull and I leave the neon switch on, so when I shut off the car the foglights turn off and the relay will shut off as well, even if the switch inside is still on. If a cop comes, the switch will trip the relay to shut them off.
