Would this work for neons????

I got this crazy idea while coming home last night. There is a place in the city that sells neons that are simalir to the rope xmas lights. I was wonder if in place of paying 150+ for neons if I could just pick up a set of rope xmas lights and hook them up to a power inverter. I know it sounds stuipid but would it work. Those xmas lights put out alot of light. So what does everyone think.......

putting that crap on your car will not only make you look even more poor, but it will also show that you have bad taste.

Haha they sell those for cars during xmas time. My girlfriend's dad's Blazer had them wrapped around during Xmas it was so funny to see him drive and have this stream of light with him.

Depends on your application, if you're smart about where you put it, it may look good, if you put it outsode of your car on where the paint iz, like on that blazer

if you put them underneath the car like an underbody then it would work fine. Or if you want to accent your interior with them, that would be cool too. They have automotive rope lights and I used to have blue ones in my car and it was a really cool effect. The home lights are cheaper and they come on a longer strand. But then you need the inverter.

oh yeah, just remember that the look of a neon and the look of a rope light are way different. no matter how many rope lights you use.

I have been using the 120 V rope lights on my van every christmas for 5 years, I mounted them under the van behind the little lip at the bottom of the door jamb. they can be hooked end to end to form a long string up to about 50' then add another string, I had over 200' on my van with 4 plugs running inside to a inverter. I also decorated the outside with standard mini christmas lights along with a blinking christmas tree on the grille. All total I had over 6000 lights and all of this was for the kids benifit, I got escorted around the malls with my son dressed up as santa and he threw out and passed out candy for the kids.

BTW in almost every state neon is illegal, you are only allowed to use white or amber on the front 1/2 of the car and red or amber on the rear half..... All neon is illegal if you can see the light directly, many state laws include those lighted license frames too.
