Mustang GT Wanna Be!!!
Driving to work today I saw a 1996 or 1997 what I thought was a GT Mustang, turned out to be a V6 Mustang with GT Badgeing and a Ricer Wing. I could tell it was a GT because it only had a single exhaust exiting the rear bumber and the non functioning hood scoop up front. This guy had all of the correct GT badges including the 4.6 badges affixed to his V6 stang... So we are come to a stop light and here is what happened.
I am just behind a Chevrolet Cavalier at the light when the v8 wanna be mustang pulls up next to the Cavalier that looked to have some work done to it. The Mustang Revs to get the Cavalier attention the Cavalier reved back and it was definetly not stock by the sound of it. The light changes and the two cars start to race... I hear some rubber spinning at the light and then the Cavalier pretty much owned this stang... I followed and after the Cavalier was about two to three car lengths ahead of the V6 stang he slowed down and the Mustang flys by and turns at the next intersection. I pull up to the light next to the Cavalier and I rolled my window down and congratulated him on his kill and explained I was behind them both the whole way. The Cavalier shakes his head and says thanks man. He said looks like you have a nice stang whats you have done to it... I said well first it's not a 6 cylinder and it is a real GT not a badged GT. He said what, I said yea the car you just raced was a V6 Stang with GT badgeing. I smiled the light turned green before I could get his response. No I did not race him as I was not interested in beating up on a Cavalier and I do not think he wanted any part of me as he just pulled away from the light at a very normal rate of acceleration and we both went our seperate ways... I bet he is still thinking that he owned a GT Mustang and not a V6. I also think I should of raced him and smoked him, but I just did not see any sense in it as it would of not been much of a race and I am sure I could walk all over him if I tried... So what does the board think? And why would someone badge thier V6 Mustang as a GT, only to get embarassed in a race... ?

Re: Mustang GT Wanna Be!!!
Dude people are stupid. When I had a 98 Cobra (Graduation gift), some bonehead had a Mustang GT with Cobra emblems. Only reason we knew it was a GT is because he had Mustang GT embedded into the rear bumper (Mine said Cobra). Loser was getting smoked by everybody and their mother. They were probably thinking my car was slow at the time, until I smoked a few LT1's that is
Of course now i'm on the opposing auto maker's side

Re: Mustang GT Wanna Be!!!
well most people would do it for show... but if they were really serious about getting a GT for the cost of a V6 they would run dual exaust, buy the GT bumper, Buy the GT Hood, correct badging all around and pray that no one knows the sound difference between a v6 and a v8.
