Power Steering

I am changing my alternator and I cannot remove the power steering pump to get out of my way. It seems as though it is caught on a gear. I removed the three mounting bolts but stuck. Any suggestions??

I'm presuming you got the belt already. The trick to remove the PS pump is to lift it up and towards the back. There is a curved cutout that opens towards the back that the PS pump fits into. It's kind of hard to explain, but if you were looking at the side of the engine from the passenger's wheel perspective, you would life the engine towards the 10 or 11o'clock direction. There is a flexable hose that you may need to help guide out of the way. Once you lift it up far enough, you can push it to the left and down some to rest in the gap where the belt travels.

However, I'm not sure if you will be able to get the alternator out even then. I've never tried it that way. I've always removed the coil pack backact and the wiper linkage and taken it out through that gap.

Hint, when putting the coil pack bracket back on, "forget" to put on the nuts for the two back posts. The two bolts on the front are sufficient to hold down the back, and it makes getting the pack out a lot easier in future jobs (spark plug, intake manifold gasket, etc).
