Unlikely advice trancending your whole life.
Ever have someone tell you how to deal with a small situation, only to realize later that their advice could be useful for life as a whole...
Case in point... I was just getting into Mountain Biking with a guy I worked with. He showed me all the basic techniques, and I ran with it. But when it came to logs, I was always afraid of falling or flipping over, so I always went around the damn thing..Eventually my other skills improved but not my "log hop". So he say's to me... " You can't always take the easy way around " Long story short, I ended up falling ( A LOT! ) but eventually I got the hang of it...It was'nt until we parted ways (He moved out to AZ) that I started using his advice for everything from my relationships, to driving, to work. Anyone else have a similar situation happen to them? |

You hear the statement "what would it be like if you were in their shoes a lot", and that statement has prevented me from doing a lot of hurtful things, as well as making good decisions in reacting with others on a daily basis. You hear it constantly as a kid, and IMO its probably some of the most important advice you could take.

Basically, if at first you don't succeed, try try again.

Re: Unlikely advice trancending your whole life.
yea i used to mountain bike a lot and the big thing i learned from it was when on a trail you shouldnt look at the path that you dont want to take(like a rock you dont want to slip on) you should always look forward at the path you are wanting to take. because if you concentrate to much on the rock you dont want to hit you will end up hitting it cause it had your attention same in life look to what you want to do not at the things that you dont plan on doing they will waste your time

I live my life by little sayings like that. Its really amazing how simple the key ideas in life are. My main motto is to treat people how you want to be treated, and don't let them treat you how you wouldn't treat them.
