Re: Replace Oil Pump
I see that you have a 2000 what's going on? Why do you think you need to replace it?

Re: Replace Oil Pump
Typically that rattleing sound happens when you have very low oil. The sound is the rod in cly #1 spinning. The solution is a new engine or rebuilt your current one.
I have never read a post (reading for about 7 years now) about a +98 needing a new oil pump. change the oil asap and see if it is still rattleing. If so, you know the engine is toast. search of oil here and the on the trooper board and you will find a handfull of others with the same problems.

Just went out to start it up to see if it still rattle while idling(have not moved or started the truck for about 3 weeks). It does have a good rattling noise going on and some smoke. I check the oil level and it's does not need oil. Based on what you said about the engine being toast. Should I be looking toward rebuild engine kit? Which I saw on the website for about $535.00 or new engine all together? Michael

Re: Replace Oil Pump
There was a post here (within the past 2 months) were a rodeo owner was able to rebuilt his engine. But I have read other posts that folks can't rebuilt due to not enough metal left (it was on a trooper, on the trooper board here).
I know know much about what it will take to do the rebuild. search a bit here and on the trooper board for more info.
