|
Brake rotor removal
Can anyone tell how to remove my brake rotors. I have the calipers loose and was wondering if I need to remove the 8 bolts that are need to the lug nut studs. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yep, you have to unbolt the rotor from the hub.

At least on the 4WD, you have to remove the entire wheel hub, then the bolts that hold the rotor to the wheel hub.

depending when your bearing where repacked last, I'd repack them now. Kill two birds with one stone.

Don't forget to preload the outer bearing when reinstalling the wheel bearing lock nut, TORQUE TO (58-72ft-lb.) Spin the hub assemb. several times in both directions. Then you back the nut off till' (0 ft-lbs) and retorque only to 4.3-13 inch lbs. NOT FT-LBS, BUT INCH POUNDS. SPIN HUB SEVERAL TIMES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AGAIN, RETORQUE TO 4.3-13 INCH LBS. Now install lock washer by tightening the lock nut within 15 to 30 degrees to align screw holes. Spin hub again several times in both directions. All this ensures you have correctly seated that bearing.
