Stock Cam Timing

Hey guys,

Anyone know the stock timing on cams for a '01 2.4l DOHC in the GA SE with the auto trans? Making headers for it but can't seem to find figures on the Net. I'm trying to calculate the lengths for the pipes and can't do it without knowing the difference in timing between the intake cam and exhaust cam. I don't want to have to go to the cams at this point in time, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Marc

Re: Stock Cam Timing

Well, baically I'm tryin to find the valve timing for intake and exhaust. Eg: 265/274 deg. I need to know the difference in degrees between the exhaust valves and intake valves. For instance, in my example the difference would be 9 deg between exhaust and intake. HTH

Thanks,
Marc

Re: Stock Cam Timing

Forklift, you may want to try contacting a cam manufacturer like Edelbrock, I'd be willing to bet that they cam give you OEM figures along with the figures for replacements.

Just a thought, hope it helps,

Re: Stock Cam Timing

Cool, thanks for the help Justin. I'll record those numbers because they will also help. I'll keep searching the net to see if I can dig up any info, I may have to resort to phisically checking.

Thanks,
Marc

Re: Stock Cam Timing

no problem, any other specs you need let me know. I have the 2.4 as well, older (96) but still the same thing, and just for the hell of it i printed all the specs so when i get to rebuilding my engine i got everything i need.

Re: Stock Cam Timing

Sweet, it'll sure make things easier having all those specs on hand! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for wrecked GAs or at least there engines. It would be nice to have an engine on the side to do all my mods too, then just do a swap when it's done. It's kinda hard cause this one is my daily driver. Thanks for your help Justin, I'll keep the fact that you can specs in mind.

Re: Stock Cam Timing

Well, in my searching, if I ever come across stuff like an engine or whatever I'll keep you informed. It's hard to find good deals or rare finds.
