97 Tercel Valve Adjustment

Hi:I have a 1997 Tercel with about 140,000 miles on it.
Sometimes when it is first started,it sounds light ticking sound until it warms up.I had a 93 Toyota pickup that use to do that until I had the valves adjusted.
My question is if the valves can be adjusted on this engine?
Does it have the old style rocker arms that you can adjust the valve lash?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...Chuck

well, i have a 1990 toyota tercel, and its SOHC... i adjusted mine... all you need is a feeler gauge and a 12mm socket... and the specs for what its suppose to be, but be careful, if you tighten them too much, you'll be more likely to burn a valve if you drive hard.... if they're loose, you'll hear them, but you'll never burn one... the 3E and 3EE (engines that came in my generation tercel) had a tendency to burn them.

i don't know what engine they use in the more modern tercel, if its SOHC or DOHC, but as far as i know, its just a fancier version of what i have, so they should be adjustable.
