transmission problems

I have a 98 BlazerLT 4x4. My problem usually starts after about half an hour of driving, originally it just shifted a little hard, today the gears started slipping. Particularly between second and third. I've recently replaced the plugs, wires, and pcv valve. The transmission fluid is definitely leaking, all other fluids are good. My ses light is on and the codes are DTC1870 and P0300. I may have those prefixes wrong, sorry.
Please help, Im broke and this is my everday vehicle. I am planning on fixing this myself. Im not an real experienced mechanic but I know how to read my Haynes manual.

Re: transmission problems

Chevrolet P1870 Code

Chevrolet’s transmission slippage code is the 10th most common DTC. This code is ranked higher when the General Motors brands are combined. This is a significant code. Much of the public will have a hard time understanding why a slipping transmission would potentially lead to higher tailpipe emissions. Also, many of these vehicles may receive expensive new transmissions unnecessarily. There appears to be design problems with the automatic transmission TCC (torque converter clutch) control valve in the solenoid valve body. There is a TSB that describes common problems encountered with General Motors vehicles. Technicians and customers should feel free to contact the Missouri Department of Natural Resources if they have questions or concerns related to this or other transmission DTC’s and GCAP testing.

P0300

Tell me this, why did you not replace the cap and rotor? Seems foolish to replace the plugs and not the equipment supplying the spark don't you think?

Re: transmission problems

They aren't that expensive.

Cap and rotor is probably causing the P0300 code.

Cap and rotor are more important than wires.

Re: transmission problems

the manual says that because unless you know transmissions dont mess with them, the extent a person who isnt a tranny guy or girl should do is buy a refurbashed one and install it, not tare it down and rebuild, thats ment for the pros
