Here is an update to the sad story I had posted earlier. Very nice of those persons to see that this innocent one was finally taken care of and shown some respect.
Abandoned Baby Laid To Rest In Trussville
Thrift Store Employees Found Infant
April 7, 2005
TRUSSVILLE, Ala. -- A baby who was abandoned at a Huffman thrift store was laid to rest Thursday.
The infant, named Angel Grace by the employees who found her, was buried at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.
Two weeks ago, workers at America's Thrift Stores discovered the dead baby in a box of donations.
Birmingham police believe the baby girl lived 24 to 48 hours before dying. They have traced the box back to St. Clair County, and they would like to talk with the baby’s mother to find out what happened.
Many employees of the thrift store attended the funeral. Jefferson Memorial Gardens also donated a funeral plot and a casket for the baby.
Authorities wish to remind mothers of Alabama’s Safe Haven law, which means that anyone can bring a newborn baby to a medical facility and leave it there without legal repercussions in order to prevent this very situation.
