96 GP Door Handle

My son's driver's door quit working and I accidentally broke the door handle off on his 96 gp during cold weather. We replaced it at the dealership with a part purchased online, so they won't guarantee it. Door worked for a day and then completely stopped again, handle seems to work fine just doesn't seem to catch anything on the inside. How do you take the handle off and see why it's not catching to actually make the door open?

open the door. either there is a plastic cover on the side or not. get a flat head screwdriver and undo it. i will come off. from there rember how you took it off. you could also use chelton repair manuel.
