Question Nitrous for the SER?

I have a universal NOS kit and I was wondering with our compression at 9.5 and the aluminum block will our engines hold out? i wont even be squeezing that much but some tech that i went to warned me about all this shit. he wants me to go basic airflow and then when my warranty expires he say i should go NOS. he even recommended that i get a T3/T4 Drag turbo instead of nos. But I dont have that kind of money. If anyone can give me some 411 on the NOs situation... Thanks

NOS can be used, but keep your shot around 60ish (for more juice, the Jim Wolf blokes). Drop the heat range on your spark plugs one to two ranges depending on the NOS jet you choose. Order a Jim Wolf ECU with NOS settings and this will save your arse. Good luck.

Definitely limit the NOS. I still have my doubts about the QR25DE. The block is die cast, so it's a lot thinner than say an SR20DE. Very similar to a modern Honda or Toyota motor, and I've seen plenty of them melted by way too much NOS. I assume you've got a wet kit? The manifolds are supposed to be good, so you should get even flow to all the cylinders. Yes, it will certainly be a bit cheaper than a good turbo, but the turbo also doesn't need to be refilled, and will work for you all the time. With an electronic boost controller, you can set it at something moderate for street use, and when it comes time to smoke the tires, you can turn it up (maybe as simple as pushing the "scramble boost" button). I haven't seen a turbo QR25 yet, but I can almost guarantee you'll get more power from a Garrett T3 than from a modest shot of NOS. A hybrid turbo would cost more, but would give you more of the top-end grunt you'll want for racing. With some precaution, NOS or turbo will probably do it for you. Just remember that you should be fortifying your other components to deal with the added punishment you're giving the engine.

I agree. There really is nothing like a good turbo setup like a Garrett turbo ,like the one I'm selling . The local market for refilling NOS here in Florida is about $30 for a 10lb bottle. It can add up quick plus the $400 +/- $$ for the kit. A 6.5psi turbo will net some healthy power and will not eat third gear, but if you are set on getting NOS, a wet kit is important and a safety valve for the system because if that tank valve does not close and you start her up after sitting… BAMMMM!!! That's the end. I have many friends who ran NOS and loved it until they switched to a turbo. Story over!

it is cheap!!!! and i will not race my Opel, so better get my nissan fast.. so how would you go about installing one of these? and how much gain would this give me? would i actually feel anything? or does it look like a waste?? thanks in advance

Hmm, I dunno about that kit. You'd probably get half second shots that are only worth 4hp each. And the fact that they can't even spell "Altima" right is questionable.
