check engine light

My check engine light won't go off and I'm not having any problems
with my jeep will this keep me from passing my emission test and is there any way i can get it to go off.
so I can pass the test.

I just had that problem with my jeep..I changed the gas cap back to the original cap and it solved my problem. I had bought a locking gas cap with the key, but had to take it off to get that fixed.

The guys at Autozone will read the code for you (usually for free). I wouldn't just start changing parts. That can be an expensive crap shoot. Get the code read and post an update. Hopefully it is just the cap not holding pressure. :-)

p.s. if it is a faulty gas cap, for the love of god don't BUY a new gas cap. Go to the closest gas station and tell them you might have left your cap there. Typically they have a box full of them behind the counter. Find one that fits and your all set. Cost = $0.00 and besides once the box gets full they start to chuck the older ones anyway.
