1990 Ford Escort GT The story
alright I have a 90 GT scort 275424kms and still going strong. I have had major problems and they have come and now gone, so I know my way around this motor and pretty much everything else that comes along with this car. There is one problem that I cannot figure out. When the car heats up to normal temp, if left to idle it will overheat. To add to this if I drive around town 60kms or less with out having the Rpms high it will overheat as well. And to add to this when it becomes high in heat the check engine light will come on and it will stall when I am coming to a stop or decelerate, just whenever the RPMs are left below 1500. This is weird any ideas ?

Hey thanks, now say the fan comes on at the right time regardless and the car still overheats, would it be that I might just need a new rad ?

It probably needs flushing, radiator and heater core. You can also check to see your waterpump is operating properly....with the engine running, pinch the top radiator hose and see if you can feel the pressure and the water surge when you let up. Also check the radiator cap for correct pressure.
