radiator fan runs all the time
This is on a 89 - V6 - 3.0.
I've read some of the other threads but still not sure what my problem is. The fan runs all the time the engine is running, stops when engine is turned off. It isn't over heating. Could this be the relay I hear spoken of or some temperature switch? It's got 235,000 on it's 3rd trans. - smokes a bit, leaks some too, but still running! |

Re: radiator fan runs all the time
It is most likely a bad relay(stuck on). Less likely, but possible is a shorted temperature sensor switch.
On your 1989 DODGE TRUCK CARAVAN, the RELAY is: UNDER HOOD, DRIVER SIDE, FRONT SIDE OF STRUT TOWER, MOUNTED IN RELAY BLOCK ON FENDERWELL |

Re: radiator fan runs all the time
Try disconnecting them one at a time with the fans running until the right one is found.

Re: radiator fan runs all the time
No.
Disconnect the relays one at a time and just turn the ignition to on. There should be no need to start the engine. You should also check the temperature switch's connector to see if it is connected. If the computer can't read the switch (i.e. if it's disconnected), the computer runs the fans all the time as a safety measure. TEMPERATURE SWITCH is: UNDER HOOD, PASSENGER SIDE, UPPER ENGINE AREA, NEXT TO DISTRIBUTOR, MOUNTED IN PASSENGER SIDE OF WATER OUTLET |
