86 motor swap v/6??

hi anyone know how i can find out what motor is compatible with a 1986 ranger v/6 2.9 L?? this truck has a 5 speed and only needs a motor. also anyone know the best place to buy a good used v/6 ?? thanks. new orleans

If it's all set for a 2.9 V-6, I'd say go with the 2.9 V-6. Unless you're looking to beef up to a small block V-8, which is probably more hassle than it's worth. Your local Autozone should be able to track down a reasonably priced used/rebuilt engine.
