93 Voyager overheat
Well when i got the van i changed alot of stuff and took it for its first drive. While in a drive thru it over heated. Got it home and found that neither of the 2 fans where kicking on. I found a wire crusted on the fan in front of tranny so i patched it up and it started to work. As for the other fan i couldnt find any wires bad or plugs not in. So i left it at that. Then today sitting idle the van beeps and says check gauges so i look at temp and it is pegged. Kill it right away. Then few minutes later start it up and drive temp starts dropping fast till it gets back to normal. Then the oil light flicks once. So i go to nearest gas station and get some antifreeze and oil. Antifreeze was fine but oil was 2 quarts low add some and drive rest of day just fine. So ? is since it was that low on oil could that make the motor to overheat even with antifreeze full? Or could it be the fan in front of the motor? The fan in front of tranny has been cooling it for past 2 months. But it is getting warmer outside. Regardless im gonna fix the other fan just kinda wondering how fast i need to do this.

Re: 93 Voyager overheat
I've never heard of a low oil condition causing overheater.
I would guess that you have a bad (erratic) cooling fan relay. The other possibilty would be a bad temperature sensing switch, but those tend to completely stop working when they go bad. It sounds like your fix of the motor wires didn't do anything (other than you shut the ignition off to do the fix). Try turning on your AC. The other fan may strictly be used with the AC. |
