freeze plug ?'s

I made a dumb mistake and so now I need some info. I'm sure you've got a good idea of what my question is but I sent my block in to get bored out and I didn't bother to look to see where all the freeze plugs and oil plugs are so of coarse when he put it in the chemical bath or what ever he had to pull the plugs out. I got a new plug kit and although the inch and a half ones or so ones are easy to tell with the two on either side and two on the back but there is 6 small ones about a half an inch in diameter half are a little shollower than the other three though and there is one that is the size of the hole in the back where the camshaft goes I asume that is where it goes but I want to make sure anyway these are the ones I need some assistance with.

Re: freeze plug ?'s

You are most likely correct. Freeze plugs for a SBC are pretty low tech....if they can be tapped into place with a snug fit, thats where they go.

If you have not done so, knock out the oil gallery plugs too, and clean the galleries with soapy water and a tiny bottle brush, or a rifle cleaning brush.
Then install the new plugs.

Oil galleries love to hold debris that accumulate there while being immersed in the strip tank.
