01 Ranger 4.0 might have striped spark plug hole

Well I pulled the one plug just to look at it and put it in then got a check engine light tighten down,but hear a poping sould like it loose and leaking. I reset the battery light went away but I can still hear that noise. They are factory plugs is there a washer that goes on them maybe it feel off. The plug felt like it went in I have I did not stripe the hole. If I did can that be tap and dyed? If that what if the plug wire was bad would it make that sould?
