Post Questions about rebuilding engine

HI, i have a 94 accord lx auto, and i was thinking about rebuilding the engine with all new internal parts, i have 83,300 miles on it, if anyone can help me out, let me know what kind of parts i will need, how much i would cost for me to do or if a professional would do it for me. Thank You.

Re: Questions about rebuilding engine

83k isn't much. Why would you want to do that? If the motor is shot for some reason, it'd be cheaper to drop in a used one.

Question Re: Re: Questions about rebuilding engine

What engine would you prefer to put into the accord, would it be possible to drop in a prelude vtec, or drop in a rebuilt engine so i can put a good turbo in there?

I would go for the "prelude VTEC" or as we call it the H22.

Re: Questions about rebuilding engine

are you going to convert you accord to manual? The auto H22 only has about 170hp. I was told the h22 has weak internals so you should not boost past 8lbs

The motor will put out the same hp no matter what. I know on muscle cars different trannys will take away different amounts of hp. Im pretty sure this is true with Hondas, so a manual might or will take away less hp from the motor. 5 speeds is always better then 4 too, plus manuals are more fun. So a 5 speed manual might give you some or take away less hp then an auto I think, Im curious on this too. Manuals also let you pop the clutch and all that good stuff youd like to do with a fast motor. But they take time to get good at too, Ive had one for 6 months and still suck.

As for your engine, if you have the money get a prelude motor and build it up with some quality parts and it will be quick. Good luck.
