FTO frame specs

i was wondering if anyone in japan or euro. has access to the Mitsubishi FTO frame dimensions. im not talking about wheel base and height measurements but i'm more interested in point to point measurements of the torx boxs, front frame rails, rear frame rails, basically its the measurements that a shop will use to realign the frame. With these i can finally figure out one of the more disputed questions about the FTO and the Eclipse sharing the same base chassis. If they do importing the car in the USA will be a piece of cake.

Re: FTO frame specs

The FTO is based on the Galant chassis, as is the entire DSM lineup ie Eclipse, Talon, Laser, Avenger, and even 3000gt's and Stealths. Juist because they are based on the saem chassis does not mean they share the same dimensions. FTO is a car that is not able to be imported to the states and be legalized. There is nothing you can do about it. I know it sucks because I would love to have an FTO too.

i already know that they share the same base chassis design, i'm just want to figure out where the variances are with the frame design if its anything major at that because the FTO and Eclipse share the same wheel base except with a minut difference of just a few MM. You can legally import the FTO and I've heard of some successful attempts so i know its not impossible. You can import it as a show/race car with out much problem but you cant drive it around of course. On the other hand if the DOT accepts the FTO because of the similar chassis as other exsisting US vehicles. If not you can always import 3 of them so the DOT can crash the 2 for the crash test data. If you do that you can start charging other people for the test results so they themselves may oneday import a FTO. Its not impossible its just a big pain in the ass
