Okay, stripped the Testors Base/Clear, now what...
So I supercleaned it back down to bare plastic like you guys suggested, and I'd like to get it right this time.
So I'll lay down a coat of Tamiya primer, and sand it with 2000 grit (sound ok?) Now, I noticed when I laid the Base on the last time, it dried REALLY rough--like, it felt kinda like sandpaper. The instructions on the can didn't indicate you were supposed to sand it, so I laid the Clear down on top. Other than the high spots and orange peel I showed you in the last post, it seemed to lay down rather well, but I could still feel the roughness of the paint through the clear, except now it was just kinda bumpy instead of rough. Should I sand the Base blue before I lay down the clear? Or did I do something wrong? And how many coats do you guys recommend of Base and then Clear? I'm new to the two-part process... |

c'mon guys I need some help, and the 2-part system isn't really delved into much in the FAQ, otherwise I wouldn't have posted.

lets see if i can explain this, prime the surface, sand it down like you said, wash the surface, let it dry, Spray light coats of the base coat, Let it dry, if you sand down the orange peel make sure to polish it out before the clear coat. Once the base coat has dryed, polish it without using wax, then lay down some light coats of clear. I think that clears it up a bit no?

polish the base? Interesting. I take it the polish will take out the roughness? I mean the base is REALLY abrasive, it really does feel lik sandpaper.
