01 Grand Cherokee AZC

My 01 Grand Cherokee does not seem to be blowing very well out of any of the set vents. I can control all of them just fine (defrost, floor, dash) but there is hardly any airflow in any setting hot or cold. The blower motor sounds like it is running fine and I can hear some good airflow from somewhere just not where it is needed. Can not feel any breeze from under the dash or anything. The AZC self-diagnostic test keeps giving me a code 52 and that is all. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean I am going to have to pull the dash to replace the blend door actuator, or can I replace it through the glove box opening or something? Is this more than likely the reason I am not getting any airflow from the vents?

Re: 01 Grand Cherokee AZC

well, to tell you the truth I am not sure how to access the blend door actuator, I know someone on here does tho, maybe JD, Dale or Byron, and a few other great jeepers (don't be mad if I didn't put your name on here specifically..lol). But yes this is most likely your problem for the LOW BLOW.

I have the same problem - after clearing the 52 fault code (apparently historical and was able to clear it), now have repeating current codes 03, 04, 05 ,06. Mechanic thinks it's probably the AZC controller.

Any help would be appreciated

blend door actuator

Thanks!, I'm still pulling a code 52 - according to Jeep this is an AI-recirc door travel too large??
I can see the drivers side actuator and seems to be working. Still no air flow thru the vents-anywhere. Is there a master blend door?

thanks, GMan

Same here. It appears the blend door actuator is moving on mine too. Still no airflow.

I would love to get lucky, but have a feeling this will be expensive to fix.
I have an electrical mechanic that will be checking this out Tues. or Wed. ( diagnosis only). If the dash has to come out, I might trade the damned thing.

Keep me posted on the outcome. Sounds like the same problem I have. I have pulled the dashes out of some Dodge Durangos and an S10 blazer so the Jeep might be the next unfortunate experience.

01 Air problem

Greetings,

I had the diagnosis done for the lack of air flow thru the system. Code 52 was the fault code. This is the air recirc travel-too large parameter.
It is the vent that changes the air from the inside to the outside. (The recirc button on the AZC control).

The only thing we could get to was the blower so.... pulled the blower motor, stuck our hand into the opening. The vent door (plastic POS) had broken - and was laying on top of the intake for the blower.
The fix:
We positioned the vent back in the opening into the closed position(outside air all the time), two zip ties (temporarily permanent fix for me) and reinstalled the blower. Then recleared the codes - info to accomplish the code stuff can be found at wjjeep.com. I cant use the recirc function, but the alternative is a $750-1000 repair. For the cost of two zip ties, I dont give a s---. Chrysler ought to have their ass handed to them for such a poor design. If anyone has this problem, this was an EASY fix. Took more time to figure out how to get the glove compartment out than to fix the vent door.
If anyone needs more specifics, email me

GMan
