90 Grand Caravan LE - Maint Reqd - light

Recently purchased this vehicle at auction. I'm told this isn't a trouble code ... what is it? How do I turn it off.

Re: 90 Grand Caravan LE - Maint Reqd - light

Regarding the Maintainence Required Light (not the Malfunction Indicator Light which is seperate):

This info is courtesy of my uncle inlaw who is a mechanic. This light comes on strictly based on the mileage on the vehicle. Somewhere between 75000-85000 miles. Nothing is wrong with the vehicle, but seeing the annoying light, drivers assume a problem and bring the vehicle to a garage to have it looked at. Chrysler put this true idiot light in to get the vehicles pollution control systems checked on a diagnostic computer. The idiocy is that the owner gets to pay for this check up to a vehicle that has no apparent problems. The mechanic then hits a reset switch to turn off the light and the driver feels something positive was done. The reset switch is located in the worst accessable spot possible - under the driver dash at an arms lenght someplace. I don't know what it even looks like. Some board members advise putting tape over the light to ignore it. If it is possible to remove the trim to get at the light bulb, remove the bulb. If all else fails, you can use a hammer and sewing needle and punch the needle thru the face destroying the bulb.

Thanks yogi .. your info confirms my suspicion that nothing is really wrong.
