1998 Continental Phone

I recently purchased a 1998 Lincoln Continental with phone mounted in the center console. I appears to be a stock item, but unfortunately my car did not come with a manual so I don't know much about it. I contacted the local Cell One dealer to see if I could hook the phone that I already have up to the car through the existing set up. He told me the existing phone in the car is an analog unit and my digital phone would not work. My question is... Has anyone else had this problem and successful in making a digital phone work with the integrated unit?

True. We can't find anyone that's done the conversion. The difference between analog and digital would require the whole system revamped.

RJ, the moderator of the
LOL Town Car forum , has connected his analog unit with Verizon, and He's very happy with the results. He says is very powerfull and never loses a signal. The downside is, analog carriers are dwindling so roaming on long trips may be a problem.

Here's some information on getting the Owners Manual for the phone system.

Thanks so much for the help. Cell one did tell me that they are phasing out their analog service in this area. Looks like I will have to make due with my handheld or fork out the bucks for a digital system that doesn't have all of the features of the old analog system.
Thanks again.

just had my 96 conti's factory phone hooked up with my carrier(alltel)was told by cs the old phones were fcc banned 3 months ago because of no 911 locator, but my local cs set me right up as a 9.95 a mo. second phone to my regular service.it works great but they warned me analog will be gone in 2 more years.
