'97 Taurus SHO MACH Sound System Wiring Help

Greetings all;

I am installing an Amp and sup box in the trunk of my Nephews car. I was wondering if anyone has any information (like a wire diagriam) regarding what wires do what. Here's some pics to help.

TIA
Kronos70

Silver box is I guess the amp?

Here is a close-up of the three connectors that plug into the amp?

Re: '97 Taurus SHO MACH Sound System Wiring Help

So I take it no one has any clues? The past couple weeks I've been able to pospone installing this system simply because the weather has been too bad but that won't be the case for long... If you don't know, just reply saying that so at least I'll know.

Thanks

Have you checked a Chilton's or Haynes for electrical diagrams?
Some libraries also have them.

You will have much better luck checking with the SHO crowd, or the TCCA crowd.

the topica techsho mailing list and the autox sho list also are very helpful.

Re: Re: '97 Taurus SHO MACH Sound System Wiring Help

Part of the issue with the MACH stereo system is it uses a differential signal from the deck. You will not be able to just tap into the factory wiring from the factory deck and run it to RCAs for the aftermarket amp. You should build/buy a differential to single-ended amplifier circuit.

In case you're wondering why they would use a differential signal, I would guess it's for the far superior noise immunity offered by the differential signals.

If you are still looking for the schematics, I can scan them in and e-mail them to you as JPEGs.

Ah haaa...

Well my Nephew got tired of waiting, and had Best Buy's Audio ppl install it for him. They tapped the rear speakers for the input...he seems happy with it. so...

Yea I can always use schematics, never know when I might need them. Thanks.

I've uploaded the 12 images to a website. You can access the photos at http://publish.hometown.aol.com/rod2...tuff/130-x.jpg
Substitute the number "1" through "12" for "x" in the above link.

I don't plan to keep these photos up here for very long (maybe a week or so) so you may want to download them to your PC.

I'm too late but that silver box back there is the actual radio. The thing you mess with in the dash is just a display.

Well, display, controller, pre-amp, and cassette player. The tuner and amplifier are in the RCU. It all depends on your definition of "radio."
