Question 96 MPV Losing Coolant

I was changing the oil and filter on my 96 MPV that has 70,000 miles and noticed coolant dripping from the front of the engine block just above the oil pan. I checked all the hoses for leaks and found none. I refilled the overflow bottle, added stop leak to the radiator and the leak is still there. What do you think is causing this leak?

Re: 96 MPV Losing Coolant

you need to take a look at your water pump from the underside, you will see a weep hole, it is probaly leaking ........and while your are at it you might want to have your radiator caleaned or replaced because all stop leak is really good for is plugging your radiator up so that you end up overheating the engine down the road......

If the leak is coming from just behind the crankshaft pulley then it is either the waterpump which has a history of failing or the intake manifold gasket
Check waterpump by removing timing belt covers partially and see if any sign of antifreeze from weep hole on front of pump or signs of antifreeze leaking onto top of waterpump housing from intake manifold gasket
You can replace waterpump without removing timing belt but replacing intake manifold gasket is a pain

Re: 96 MPV Losing Coolant

Had same problem with my MPV. It was leaking only after I turned the engine off. Replaced water pump and that took care of the problem.
