1997 Ranger-- Engine light on and low power

I have a 1997 Ranger with a v6 engine, 101k miles. For the last year I have been getting a "check engine" light come on for a while then will go out. I got a code scanner, the scanner indicated a miss fire on #3 & #6 then it cleared up. Next time around it was just a miss fire on #6, well about 3 months ago the light came on again and hasn't gone out. I have also notices a steady decrease in power on the freeway. I have had the truck lubed, changed the fuel/air filter, changed plugs and wire with no change. Truck idles fine and at lower speeds runs fine but on acceleration getting on the freeway at higher speeds it picks up speed very sluggishly. Only other thing to mention is on a rare occasion when I get in my truck it doesn't want to start, I have to turn off ignition for about 30-40 seconds then it works fine again. This only happens one every 4-6 months. If any one has suggestions or ideas it would be appreciated. Oh... I also took choke cleaner to my throttle assembly about 4 months ago with no change.
