Dull headlights

Is there a good cleaner that will clean that dull, yellowish "residue" on headlights? I saw that Fitz claenaer but don't know if I want to spend the money on a product a commercial tells me will work. I would rather hear from someone who has claened these things and what you used to do it.

I've had good luck with C.L.R.. You know, the stuff that's for the soap scum on your shower tile...Just don't dilute it as much, if at all. You can find it in any Wal-Mart....

I use chrome polish,it seems to work pretty good

HEADLITES man....Just take em out and go out and buy new extra bright halogens for about $16 apiece and be done.

The factory ones are only 35watts low beam and halogens are 50watts.....make sure you check the specs. Make sure you have 13 plus volts at the socket also and that the grounds are good.

OH yeah...to clean use a polish compound from an auto paint shop....ask the guy.

Headlights! Another " problem" with XJ's, is the dull headlights, I strongly recommend the Silver Star halogens. You can get them at your local Advance auto store. I have run these in every one of my vehicles, great improvement in brightness for the money.

Agree with this change to the brighter lights, thay are well worth the time and effort to change them out both ON or OFF roading.

Hi guys,

To overcome my dull headlight problem (which I think is caused by the tiny wires that feed them), I rerouted fused battery power through relays fired by the existing headlight circuit. I think I got the idea from the Aussies page (http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoHeadlightLoom.htm). Before the change, I had about 10-11vdc at the plugs due to the long skinny wires and other relays, switches, etc. Now I have battery voltage (12+) at the plugs. Also did as suggested above and picked up a set of the bright whites. Much better!

do this rewire im telling you its amazing the diff, i also bought the ipf h4 replacemt lenses to use h4 bulbs, i run 90/130w lights and its as bright as bmw's with their xeon bulbs all done for under 100 bucks

I detail headlights at used car lots as a side buisness and I use a product called CrystaLenz. The stuff works awsome. However on Jeeps an other Mopar products you have to wet sand the clear coat off the lens first then use the Crystalenz product. Check out the website www.crystalenz.com
