Re: clutch pack in an auto tranny...where and what is it?
na, all chev s-10 auto overdrive transmissions are basicly the same. Just different bolt patterns on the bell housing, and possibly gearing, and splines.
The clutches basicly do the same thing as a clutch in a standard. They allow slippage in the gears when nessary, and lock right up when required. They're what usually wears out when you tow to heavy of a load in overdrive. Clutch packs in auto transmissions are internal, and you'll want to let the pros fix it. Sorry |

Agreed, unless you know how to tear down a transmission, don't attempt this. Have a professional do a rebuild on it.

Re: clutch pack in an auto tranny...where and what is it?
Just had my tranny rebuilt at a local shop here in PA.The guy there told me that these trannies are quite common for failure.I have the automatic overdrive and it gets on my nerves when your driving in Drive on our back roads cause it always keeps shifting up and down.So I just throw it in 3rd and go,works fine. Now on the highway I put it in Drive
