Re: Installing 4-1 header

hmm ok so i should just shave off some plastic from the fan and unbolt the slave cylinder and slightly push on it to get it to fit?

thats what i did and it everything went fine. i just moved the slave cylinder to the left and it gave me enough room to fit the header in there

so today me and my and two friends attempted to install the header. Yeah so it didn't work too well. Ummm we got the heat shield off thats about it. The 4 bolts conecting it to the cat were rusted over like shit and I even used PB blaster. I could not get the shit off. So after hours of trying to get the bolts off I finally gave up. I even soaked the bolts in PB blaster stuff for like an hour...still nothing. So now I am breaking down and probably going to get a shop to do it for me. My car isn't old for integra's either (2000 GSR 50,000 miles) so I don't know why the bolts were so bad. But whatever. So yeah very disapointing day. I will go hang my self now.

Re: Installing 4-1 header

yea those bolts are a sonofabitch. i used an open end wrench, and connected another open end wrench to the side not connected to the bolt.... and used all of my strength. i also soaked in wd40... if you use the open end wrench trick or a cheater bar u should be able to get them.

i had a slight problem get n mine out. this is what i did, i used a wratchet(or breaker bar) and attached a piece of pipe at the end of it to give me more leverage/torque and the bolt came out with no problem. u might need to heat up the bolt too. thats a trick that works almost all the time. get a torch and heat up the bolts. then take a socket, hammer it onto the bolt so it's on there fully (theres usually corrosion on the bolt, which wont allow the socket to go all the way into the nut. heat n it up and hammer n the sockt onto the nut will get rid of this problem) then take the wratchet and attach it to the socket and attach a pipe at the end of the wratchet or breaker bar. u should now be able to turn that bolt loose!

also when u install everything, u might need a set of vice grips to pull the end of the header and the cat together. the header might look too short to bolt onto the cat, but u need to pull the cat and the header togther with the vice grip.

I aprreciate the fact the you searched to find your answer but you also revived a old dead thread. We try not to bring back any threads over 1-2 months old. Instead just read the thread you find and if it is more than 2 months old just start a new thread with a more specific question.
For your current question as long as the header is made for your car you will not have to modify anything for it to fit.
