egr valve on 92 lude

My girlfriends 92 prelude's check engine light keeps coming on saying the egr valve is bad. i have replaced the egr valve and solenoid. when idling the check engine light does not come on but after driving a while it pops on. anyone have any suggestions on what i should try?
