My Vic goes bumpbumpbumpbump. I can feel it more than hear it. It shakes some too. The tires are good, plenty of tread. relatively new. No hard mileage. the noise only comes when I give it gas. If the Vic is coasting, nothing happens. No engine problems. So help, are the tires bad? out of balance, out of aline? Just a dumb woman here who needs help.

So you feel it bumping only when you give it gas, and won't do it when the car is coasting. Sounds to me like it's something in the powertrain.

"Bumping" tells me that there is a problem with your transmission. When did you last have a transmission service? Would probably be a good idea to have it done just to see what happens. If the transmission is shot, then you know. If not, the service won't hurt it any.

See what happens by doing that.

i would have to think its u joints which are the lil x like things who connect the drive shaft to the rearend and tranny it also could very well be the tires out of alignment does it do it at ne scertin speed or at ne speed post back

It sounds to me like I would suspect a defective or even broken motor mount. When you accelerate the torque of the engine trying to move the car actually causes the engine to rotate or lift in its mounts. If a mount is defective or broken it allows the engine to move beyond design dimensions. This allows some part of the engine to come in contact with some other fixed part in the engine bay. That is usually what causes a vibration or similar noise as you noted.

Sometimes you can confirm this by first raising the hood. Then start the car. With the brake firmly applied and nothing and no one in front of the car, put it in a forward gear and apply some pressure to the gas pedal. Someone can watch by standing beside one of the front fenders to see if the engine lifts or moves noticeably. Some movement is normal but it should not look as though the engine is trying to climb out of the car.

How long since last tune up? You may have a weak plug that is breaking down under load. Please post year and engine size please.
