Thumbs up About my '05 SS

Bought a new '05 SS and basically, I love it....a few issues I wish GM would have addressed (knowing this model/platform is discontinued)
First, a little LESS plastic interior parts....too cheap of an interior. Better overhead lighting would be nice since there isn't any.
The 4-guage WORD legends do not illuminate, only the symbols...looks cheap when lit. Dampened overhead assist handles would have been more rich...instead of the cheap snap-back ones, and yes, 1 on the DRIVER'S side would have been a nice touch to hang onto when driving to stretch your arm.
Express down AND up on ALL windows is overdue, as is a remote start option. RAP time needs to be increased also.
The sunroof is EXTREMELY noisy (wind shear) when tilted open...I have never heard such a loud one before, and all my vehicles have had quiet ones....very annoying.
Better interior storage would be nice insted of the "plastic openings" that are there...at least line them with carpet or felt.
Heated seats are hard to regulate, either too hot or cold, and the switches belong where you can see them with illumination legends. Why don't the REAR window switches illuminate? The front ones do.
The no-spoke steering wheel is a little boring for an SS, but the lighted switches are long overdue.
Turn-signal mirrors would be nice, but I will modify them myself like always, along with HID/Xenon lighting.
No complaints on the exterior, very nice style and the chrome wheels are a nice touch. Performance is very good and the handling is good, but the steering could use a better "center" feel to it.
All in all, the car is what it is for the price and I like it....it's a lease, so I don't plan on keeping it any longer then 4 years, but I like it for what it is. Time will tell I'm sure since I tend to notice the things most people never see.

Re: About my '05 SS

I don't think they ever put the overhead handles for the drivers spot for any vehicle. The theory is if you are going so fast around a corner that the driver has to hold on, you are probably going to get in an accident. You shouldn't be holding on to a handle above your head, you should be holding on to the stearing wheel.

Re: Re: About my '05 SS

Actually, they are ASSIST handles, for getting in and out of the car....holding onto them while driving in any seated position compromises the seatbelt tension....and hanging onto one while at a light or waiting in a parked postion is much more comfortable then not having one at all....check out all high-end (and even cheap) foreign cars...they ALL have them.
