yeah, so umm....here's the deal, there was a peice of plastic stuck in the passengers seat belt, so i was going to take the buckle off, and try to get the plastic out, slap on that 17 millimeter socket, give it about a quarter turn, and it breaks totally loose, the bracket and everything (with little effort mind you)

so i rip out the whole interior, and the floor behind the seats is HORRIBLE (the front is good (which i dont get) ) the ECU is pretty bad (the bottom has rust holes in it )... so yeah, i guess it's time to weld in new floor panels... what fun...what fun

so the REX is going to be sitting for awhile

ok, i'm really confused now... i pulled out the ECU, and it started!... what i'm trying to figgure out is why my HF has an ECU in teh first place... if it matters the top of it says

"37820-PE1-663 (J)" and it's got some other random stuff on it, but nothing that seems important...any ideas why it would be in a carburated vehicle?

It only controls emissions and regulates the carb. Since an HF is carbureted, it will continue to run without it.

a'ight, well, time to bring back this post

so what i'm planning on doing is just getting some sheet metal (for now) and just hammering it into the general shape of the floor and keeping it there til i go back to school (i'm starting june 21st for collision repair)
does anyone see any problems with doing the floor like this? also, does anyone have any input on the size of sheet metal i should get? i'm kinda new to all of this "rust" stuff, i'm just used to performance mods and newer cars :P

oh, also, i found some nice holes around the wheel wells when i took out the rear interior panels, and also at the hump that's behind the seats in the corners closest to the door... kinda sucks, but i can tell it has been patched previously (rather crappily i might add)

Welding in patch panels should work fine, or you could try to find a CRX in a junk yard and cut out the pieces you need and weld them in your car. Grab a thickness gauge from your local hardware store, this will tell you the gauge of sheet metal you have and what you'll need to patch it with. However, it will probably be easier (and more fun) to just Sawzall out the panels that you need from a junk CRX.
