944S vs Turbo Question

The 944S is a 16v engine, and the turbo is only an 8v right? I ask because I found some nice 944s for sale and I figure if I turbo one of those it will be faster then a turbo right? I know it will cost more but it would be better right?

Re: 944S vs Turbo Question

Faster is a matter of time, money and effort, but the 16 valve is a better engine as a base platform. That is assuming you want to put the aforementioned time, money and effort in. As an out of the box toy with little effort the turbo model is best.

Re: 944S vs Turbo Question

more valves are not really an advantage with a turbo since your intake air is under presure. turbo charging a non turbo 944 would be very expensive and not practical at all. you would be alot better off to start with a 944 turbo. also the 16v motor has way too much compression to run a turbo.
