contour SVT swap into a focus

a friend has a project to swap a 98 contour SVT motor into a 00 focus. Any suggestions as what to do with the ECU, apparently, there is an anti-theft measure that disables the ECU, when taken from the car?

Someone said, maybe it has to do with a chip in the key? Sorry I don't know anything about fords, but HE doesn't know anything about the internet, hehehe.

hes talking about the 195 hp motor from the contour. Definetely more tq than the svt focus motor as well.

Btw, you brought up a thread that was posted about 2 years ago. Dont think hes going to be reading this.

Not that anyone is paying attention to this long dead thread, but the best thing to do IMO would be the Sable/Taurus/Escape 3.0. When its all said and done, you'd have an engine that will outperform the SVT 2.5 and cost a fraction of the price.

Re: contour SVT swap into a focus

The 3.0 duratec swap doesn't neccessarily require the SVT parts. Much can be done by simply using SE contour parts or even the straight Taurus 3.0. With the cost of SVT intake manifolds, cams and heads, it really not worth it to build a SVT hybrid if you don't already have the parts. Besides, the Taurus/Escape ovalport heads flow every bit as well, if not better than the SVT's and dont have the oiling issues.

Re: contour SVT swap into a focus

well the SVT parts alone bump you up to over 220hp and about 230q, not bad for a stock motor.

Re: contour SVT swap into a focus

what he's saying is its better to do 3.0 heads on a 3L swap because 2.5 heads have oil starvation on hard long right hand turns.
