Re: 1962 seatbelts

I don't think they were standard on cars or trucks in 62 but were optional. I had a 63 PU back in 71 and it had no belts.

Re: 1962 seatbelts

I think seatbelts were made standard equipment in 1965. My '64 Bel Air does not have seatbelts either. If you want them in your vehicle, you'll probably have to get them aftermarket like J.C.Whitney, or similar companies that sell aftermarket/ old car parts.

Re: 1962 seatbelts

seat belts wear standard in 1967 for all gm products if it didn't have them in it when it was made at the factory it doesn't need them in it now to pass inspection.

Re: 1962 seatbelts

Just check my 65 Nova which is not running and covered up. My cousin bought it new in 65 and it has factory belts in it. She's dead so I can't ask her if they were standard or not.

If you put lap belts only on a restoration it will still be 100% original under any club or judging organization. They don't deduct for them. Besides you can push them into the seat cushions and make them disappear when you want to.
