Question Civic EX or not?

Opinions please...

I am considering purchasing a '01 or '02 Civic that I will slowly modify.
Not with the intent on having the fastest one on the block, but having some
fun. What I want to know is this: Is it worth the extra $$ to buy an EX with
the 127hp over the 107hp or 117hp in the other models if I plan to increase
hp with mods anyway? Wouldn't it be cheaper to make up the extra 10-15hp
with aftermarket mods or is there more to the EX engine that maxes it
worthwhile?

Thanks.

i'd say it's worth it, just because parts are cheaper and easier to come by, as well, the ex has sohc vtec, not as good as dohc vtec, but it's better than nothing.

I pretty sure the HX's use SOHC Vtec as well though given the choice I'd get the EX.

i think only the EX and the HX (besides the Si) have VTEC.

I'd go with the EX. You may as well start out with a little more even if it is only a couple.

the ex is yummy. nothing like rolling up to a hot chick and using power windows! that attracts the females alright! lol j/k but i cannot stand the windows that you have to crank. too annoying. sunroof is a nice touch too.

Hx's have Vtec-E and they don't even have Hx's for the 7th generation civics.
