Ideally you want DIN tools. They look like two tall U-shaped pieces of coat hanger. You can probably find a set of these at a store if you look around. If you buy a radio through Crutchfield (if you're replacing your head unit), they will throw in the tools. I've heard it's possible to just cut up a coat hanger and do it that way too, but it may be a little tougher.

If you look on your radio, you will see 4 small holes, 2 on the left side and 2 on the right side. What you do is slide one DIN tool into the holes on each side, push them until they click, pull outward slightly and then pull the whole radio out toward you; once you get it started coming out, you can just pull the radio with your hands or by light prying or whatever.

I tried the coat hanger and they may have worked if I knew that I had to push in only 1-2 inches then PULL SIDEWAYS (right towards right/left towards left) THEN PULL OUT the coat hangers may have worked. I went to auto zone and got a pair of the "U" shaped things for $3.99. There's not much happening behind that radio fasica though.
