90 Civic Starts fine, Stalls in under 5 Seconds

Greetings!

I have been reading many posts here that indicate that the fuel filter may be in need of replacement. Here's my scenario... it has lead me to doubt this assessment.

The car has been running great. Today, my son was driving it and upon one of many decellerations it stalled out. It would start immediately, run for a few seconds, then stall. Since it was on the road I needed an immediate fix or a tow. In any event, I unplugged the throttle position sensor. The car started and ran fine. After a few minutes I plugged it back in. The RPMs when from about an idle of 1000 to around 750. It was still running great.

My son said thanks... and off he went for about 50 yards. Badda-bing. It stalled again and now it will not stay running no matter what I do.

Suggestion for a remedy please?
