Please help me.... I have in a fit of madness purchased and load of Speakers and a Amp for my car, Now I have jsut relasied that if I want to get the best benafit I shoudl rewire some of the old fatory speaker cable.
I have got a Kenwood CD changer which I plan to put in the boot along with my amp and X-overs. I have taken the time to read through a lot of the other questions posted here and get the genral grasp of runnign the power cables and RCA's. My issue is the speak cable, I have got 8" subs which will go in the bakck speaker mounts and as the X-overs are going to be in the boot this will be no problem. It's the Door speakrs I can work out how I can get new cable through, it seema like a lot of hard work unless I get the door off so I can see what I'm doing. Also has anyone installed the tweeter somewhere they can't be seen as I would prefer to keep it all out of sight. Can any one help me with some tips?? Thanks |

run the speaker wires for the door speakers in the same place the factory ones are now. It's in a flexible black loom hose looking thing. As for tweeters, I use kick panel mounts for the mid/tweeters - so they are not so visible.

Re: Re-wiring a 2nd Gen CRX any tips
You shouldnt have to take the whole door off to see what ur doing, just the interior panel over the door maybe not even that if ur good probably just the speaker cover

I have had a quick look before and hink I know the flex hose you mean, I guess I will jsut have to have a play with it and see what I can come up with.
Just one more question, What's the Kick pannal?? (in European speak if you know it) Thanks Matt |

it where ur feet are up against the side of the door kinda in that little corner, a lot of people make fiberglass enclosures that fit perfectly in that space for midrange speakers

it's the area just in front of the front door, just behind the firewall, and below the dash. On the drivers side, it's that little panel right next to that dead pedal (the little shoe shaped thing that's not a brake, accelerator or clutch pedal)

Re: Re-wiring a 2nd Gen CRX any tips
I've checked out the kick pannels but I plan to mount my mids in the doors and was looking for somewhere for my tweeters.
I would like to know if anyone had anyother ideas than kick panels. Thanks again

I have an '88 CRX ... I think it's same car you are talking about. You can mount them on the door up high by where the defrost for the sde window is, or down low - just below and slightly in front of the factory speaker locations

Re: Re-wiring a 2nd Gen CRX any tips
Just remember for proper installation you want to mount your tweeter no further than 5" away from your mid, well to obtain the most out of your sound system anyway.
