Thumbs down This is just wrong.

I thought the shock blue was bad, but the yellow one looks even worse. I know the Xterra has a lot of plastic but that front end looks like one of my kids toys.

agreed. i think the designer of Thomas the Tank Engine has been teaching automotive design in Michigan. the GM and chrysler cars are even worse. the jeep liberty especially. the front end on that one is just plain aweful!!

Unhappy Yuck.

WTF? Now, I wonder who thought it would be a great idea to go to the round headlights? Why would someone want them? Is there an advantage? I think not. What's the silver plastic thing supposed to be down by the front skid pan, a cool looking skid pan air dam? I love my X, but it looks like they were struggling for new ideas and went with the crappiest ones.

One of the things I enjoy is the highway caravan to and from our offroading trips. You can just check out everyone's Xterra as you're moving along the road.

When I look at our clubs trucks in the rear view mirror they appear very rugged. Almost like a military vehicle. Maybe that's because so many of us have ARB's, and CB antennas sticking above the roof line.

But I also think it's that squared off front end, and vertical stance that help it too.

When I look at the new rounded front end of the 2002 and those headlights I just think about VW bugs, plastic, and the trend of automotive designers to get too carried away with their 3D software. Just because you can make everything a curve on a vehicle now, doesn't mean you have too.

It just seems like poor or conflicting application of design elements instead of refining the original vision.

Too bad.

Smile I'll drink to that!!

Well Schlud, we got ours right? I think the new design makes it look kinda yuppyish.

Your right, My Xterra looks pretty tough. Other X owners are starting to ask me about the tires, the difference in the height, why I removed the step rails and mud flaps etc. My brother has an Aztek Red X. He's pissed now that he's seen my X. He said "man that makes my X look like a a piece of shit." When I finished laughing he told me I could start helping him modify his. Lucky me.

I really hope that doesn't become a mantra in the X community ... Synchro already wants to put that slogan on a bumper sticker. I personally don't care for it, simply because I'm of the opinion that we don't need any more "Xterra vs. Jeeps" bullshit floating around. Of course that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.
