Hello all, new to the forums. I have a 97 escort automatic tranny. It has 117,000 miles on it. It is shifting strangely as to it doesn't seem to want to down shift into first when at a light and kind of jumps when I take off unless I punch it and then it will go down to first gear. I was wandering if it could be the selonoid and how hard is this to change or does it have to go to the shop? Any help or other advice of what it could be is appreciated.
Thanks, cooksey |

it seems is the valve body related problem, it could be the sensor stuck open or closed or dirt in one of the valves causes the valve to stop moving back and forth with computer desire,
to get access in this you should open the tranny side cover ,and this operation require a good technician, and the best recommendation is to take the tranny out and replace the defective part and complet cleaning,
