My 1999 Suburban was a 1998 relabeled
I just noticed the sticky after replying to a question from an old thread.
John wrote "Like the thread title says please post only 1998 and older topics in here. If you have a 1999 or newer use the Silverado forum please. Regards, John" FWIW, I realize this is a truck forum for 1998 and earlier C/K but I find sometimes the P/U community knows more about their machines than the SUV set. I bought this as an SUV for my wife but its now my work truck No offense either way there are plenty of us SUV owners who DIY but seems more DIY would have trucks with beds open instead of covered.... just an observation. So that's why I posted a question here about alignment for my "truck" and the question is relevant to 1998 C/K trucks because my 1999 Suburban (my truck ) is same body and frame as 1998. MOst probably know this already but the Tahoe/Sub did not change to new Silverado design until 2000 model year. ALso, i heard while back 06 Tahoe Sub will get new body first or at same time as the pickup version of this fine "truck." Anyone heard anything lately? Finally, has anyone every wished there were fewer forums like one for all chevy trucks SUV or whatever seeing as they share so much in common and share many of the same problems? The fact that a problem is same for pickup/suburban/tahoe means I have to search and post in three forums. It would be nice to just have one big one. M2C. |

Well not all stuff on the vehicles is same, So for more technical questions its better to have seperate forums.

Re: My 1999 Suburban was a 1998 relabeled
personaly i wish there was just a suberban forum for both gmc and chevy. they are different and they are the same as the pickups. but you find a lot of people that don't want to say they own a truck so they have an suv. then you got the purists that say a truck is not an suv. me personally they are all trucks. i've had a burban since 90, my 86 and just picked up its replacement a 94, but the wife says i go before the 86 so i guess we r just gona be a 2 burb familly. dont get me wrong i love the burbans we have a pickup for pickup work, hay rolls and the like, but i have never driven a better truck than the burban for hauling the horse trailer. the extra weight makes hauling a dream, and the larger gas tank of the burb is just right for hauling. as far as the alianment goes wrap a string around all 4 wheels adjust so all the string is flat agaist all four wheels, that gets you in the ball park. as far as the rest goes take it to a shop with a rack.

Next time I'll just lie and call it a truck cause the problem will be the same 5.7L v8 1999 Silverado/Sierra replaced C/K but not for the Suburban and Tahoe cause GM was shorthhanded I suppose after that strike,,,remember that? So Sub/Tahoe trucks got Silverado/Sierra body in 2000 Now I hear Sub/Tahoe are redesigned for 2006 but Silverado/Sierra later. Whatever. I still think you need to turn it 180 degrees and have forums for all Chevy trucks as there so much in common and not enough uncommon |
