Neutral Safety Switch - Where is it??
My hubby and I believe it is the neutral safety switch on my car that needs to be replaced, thanks to this forum! Now we have the part, but he needs some help in locating the darn thing. We looked at autozone.com and the part shown is different looking than what we have (but the part we have is correct) and the location looks wrong. If someone could please let us know where to find it, it would speed things up. Is it under the car? My husband hates this van only because of how difficult it seems to be to reach everything! Otherwise he loves it.
Thanks for your help! Jbh0521 |

An inexpensive resource is a Haynes manual for your model year. Usually available for about $15, it'll have a lot of pictures. On my 98 model, I had to remove the air filter box for access to the top of the transmission. The transmission/transaxle range sensor, or neutral safety switch is located on top of the transmission. With a flashlight, you should be able to locate the old part. I believe it took a 10mm socket and a 13mm wrench to remove and replace the original.
